What Is Composting?
When organic materials are decomposing it goes through a process This process is called composting and it decomposes organic materials and recycles them into dirt.
Composting is an aerobic method (meaning that it requires the presence of air) of decomposing organic solid wastes. It can therefore be used to recycle organic material. The process involves decomposition of organic material into a humus-like material, known as compost, which is a good fertilizer for plants.

How could composting be implemented into Maui/Hawaii?
Maui has a lot of fields, big fields with large crops that get very dry in the summer. If we were to compost on those big fields than the yield would go up and it would increase soil quality. (personal composting and school composting
How does composting mitigates climate change. How does it prevent or sequester CO2 or other greenhouse gases?
Food waste when decomposes improperly at the landfill releases methane which is a stronger greenhouse gas than Co2. When we compost we don't let the food waste get to the landfill so it can decompose in an eco-friendly way where it doesn't release methane and instead helps combat Co2.
"All cellular respiration releases energy, water and CO2 from organic compounds. Any respiration that occurs below-ground is considered soil respiration. Respiration by plant roots, bacteria, fungi and soil animals all release CO2 in soils."
Composting helps make nutrient soil which makes plants. Plants have cellular respiration plants switch Co2 from the atmosphere an replace it with oxygen.
